Kayla and I have made it into our 3rd week at Lochmara Lodge and are living the life of respectable employees. Things are still fairly slow around here since the summer season hasn't really kicked off yet (boo for us since that = less hours and less sunshine but we can be patient). Right now we are just trying to enjoy the fact that we are in a beautiful location with regular paychecks coming our way...even if we end up spending a significant chunk of those on provisions to get us through the next week. I am settling into work at the delicious and amazing Lochmara cafe. So far I have avoided dropping any plates on peoples' heads or burning down the restaurant. However, I have managed to accomplish the following feats;
1. To spill an entire pint of beer on a guest's leg (his friends punted a rugby ball at me - what did they expect?)
2. As I was learning to work the coffee machine, forget to turn off the milk frother as I lowered the jug so that I splattered milk and foam all over myself and my boss.
3. Whilst trying to scoop some ice cream for a little kid, break the top off of the metal scooper to send it and the scoop of chocolate ice cream inside across the room. I blame faulty equipment.
But it's ok. Soon (hopefully), Kayla and I will be snugly cocooned in our tent by the alpacas and pigs. In the meantime we have the Queen Charlotte Track, dolphins, Scrumpy's, rope swings and seafood to keep us entertained. Pictures to follow. -E
