Let It Begin

After a fun filled night of 21 drinks and 21 kisses for Paddy's 21st birthday bash, we three hungover amigos headed down to Wellington to fly out to Christchurch. From there we planned to hire a car and drive down to Dunedin for the England v. Georgia rugby game (knocking off yet another item on Paddy's bucket list). After sitting at the bar in the Wellington airport and staring longingly at the chips and wedges behind the counter, the bar tender finally gave them to us...for free!! Possibly the most exciting part of our night. We might have eaten all 3 cups of them in under 5 minutes flat. The flight in was enjoyable despite the screaming child in the back, and I think Erin and Paddy and I had way more fun than anyone else on the plane (maybe because we we miiiight have been acting like 5 year olds). Once we finally reach Christchurch at 11pm, we are no longer allowed to sleep on whichever square of floor we wanted like we could 2 years ago. Instead, there was a "designated sleeping area". It was the floor. Roped off into a little square and by the doors. And they came around and woke everyone up at 5am. That airport loses on the comfort scale, definitely not hobo friendly. Anyway, we grab the bus into town and hire our car for the next 5 days. From there we take off for Dunedin! It took a little bit to get used to the steering wheel being on the right and driving on the left hand side of the road. But we made it the whole way without getting in any accidents! Our car's original name was Sir Snowy the White Knight (Sir Snowy, I might point out, was Paddy's contribution). But after the credit card surcharge came out to $6.66, and the code to get back into the renal car parking lot was 3666, and one unfortunate incident, we re-named the car Sir Lucifer the White Devil. Luci for short. And our South Island adventures and misadventures begin.
